Violence our Ethos?

Violence seems to have become the ethos of our time.

Awareness that we are part of one another, that we are one, brings an ethical imperative to abandon our preferential option for violence, competition, and enmity and replace it with a preferential option for the oppressed.

A diverse outlook is required. It is an ongoing process of personal and social transformation nurtured by the power of an all inclusive love and compassion. We are to harness our greed and love for wealth while developing a new attitude: a love for poverty, or in other words a love for sobriety, which just means respect for our identity. This means a culture of appreciation for the earth, for our own selves and others in our sacredness and woundedness ~ a lifestyle change is needed more than a technological advancement that simply aims at keeping on with our unsustainable standard.

"We know the truth, not only by reason, but by the heart." *Blaise Pascal
