Creed of Hope

I Believe

I believe in God—the God of all creeds, but above all, the God who rises from dead words to become living breath.

I believe in the God who walks with me: sometimes behind, bearing witness to my failures; sometimes beside, teaching me; sometimes ahead, lighting the way.

I believe in the God of flesh and blood, Jesus Christ, who wore my skin and walked my roads. Who ate and starved, who knew home and homelessness, praise and condemnation, kisses and spit, love and hatred. Who laughed at parties and wept at graves.

I believe in the God who watches this broken world—the violence, the theft, the corruption, the poisoned earth, the mounting debts—and weeps.

But I also believe in the God who sees birth emerging from pain, children playing like seeds taking root, flowers rising from rubble, women crying out for justice, the sun returning each dawn—and laughs.

For God knows what we forget: hope is not the absence of tears, but their companion. Where sorrow and joy meet, resurrection begins.
