Upside-down

Little by little we are transformed by God, even if at times we seem to be in the dark ~ a light is shining in the midst of that darkness. A plant not turned toward the sun, withers away! The Gospel comes to turn our lives upside-down in the Holy Spirit, Christ penetrates what worries us about ourselves; He can reach what seemed to be unreachable so that even the darkest places can be illuminated by his presence!

When the night becomes dark, his love becomes a fire ~ what was smouldering under the ash, bursts into flame. My favourite saints St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila both came to a new life of faith rather late in life. They both spoke of the fire that was kindled with the thorns of their past (what a great image)! In another way, the great missionary St. Paul expressed this when he said, " It is when I am weak that I am made strong in God" (2Cor. 12:10).

It is out of our trials that we are challenged to run the risks of faith and discover the light and fire of God's love!
