The Power of the Spirit in St. Comboni (3)

St. Comboni's prophetic charism makes him act on behalf of and for the good of the community in order to render true service to the Church, he often wrote that he was ready to suffer much and was ready for martyrdom. It was his hope that all in the Comboni Family might live prophetically (it is in fact a gift of the Holy Spirit, given in the Sacrament of Confirmation, though of course lived-out differently as there are persons), "...to spread and defend the Faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly and never to be ashamed of the Cross" (CCC 1303). This special power of the Spirit was clearly demonstrated in his life and he was able to inspire others as well.

The Church always re-discovers it's identity when it allows the grace of the Holy Spirit to renew it. The teachings of the Church re-confirms and makes present St. Comboni's experience, "The Spirit is the main agent of the mission of the Church" (Redemptoris Missio 21), we are only servants. The Spirit is always present and transforms peoples and is the principle agent of evangelization!
