Diverse by Design: A Prophetic Witness
If we look at the origin of our Institute we cannot deny that it it culturally rooted in Europe, particularly Italy and Germany. With the passing of time, our Institute has become more and more "catholic" (universal), because it has extended its roots into other countries of Europe, America, Africa and Asia. This fact has become a visible witness of unity in diversity and of living together in differences in a world that is incapable of getting along with what is diverse, except for the market area. Beginning from the evangelical perspective and the intuitions of St. Daniel Comboni, we are "catholic missionaries" or better, the internationality and interculturality are essential to our being Comboni Missionaries as signs of our universal brotherhood.
This mosaic of cultures within our Institute is not merely organizational success, but a prophetic sign for our fractured world. Where nations build walls and societies fragment along lines of difference, we embody a different possibility—one where diverse traditions don't compete but complement, creating something richer than any single culture could offer. Our unity doesn't erase distinctiveness; it reveals that genuine communion actually requires diversity. In living this reality daily across continents and cultures, we demonstrate what the world calls impossible: that the human family can thrive when we embrace rather than fear our differences, guided by the One who made us wonderfully diverse yet fundamentally one.
