The Comboni community is understood as both a gift and a way of life, characterized by international membership and cross-cultural living. The community strives to live the Gospel radically through austerity, solidarity, and transparency, viewing communal life itself as a proclamation and translation of the Gospel message. Time invested in building authentic community is considered essential to mission rather than detrimental to it.
Meaningful community life requires ongoing personal and community renewal—mere structural changes are insufficient. True transformation demands conversion and inner change that produces new attitudes and motivations, serving as "prophesy in action for humanity" and offering signs of communion and reconciliation in a divided world.
Key Commitments for our Community Life: The community has identified essential attitudes including: openness to being challenged by current realities; passionate listening and dialogue; making holiness foundational; embracing continuous conversion; solidarity with the poor; contemplative discernment of Christ's love even in difficult circumstances; dedicating time to togetherness and celebration; practicing transparency and positivity; and engaging in fraternal correction that acknowledges fragility while providing mutual support.
