Yes We Can: The Courage to Choose Peace

"Now's the time for all good men to get together... We gotta iron out our quarrels and try to live as brothers ~ and try to find Peace Within without steppin' on one another ~ and do respect the women of the world, remember you all had mothers..." So sang the Pointer Sisters in one of my old faves.

It requires courage and strength and inner peace to deny self for the sake of others. Prophetic peace-making is about having peace within and becoming co-creators of the peace dreamed of by God, for all. Peace-making begins with us and those closest to us. Peace within has the potential of excluding peace without.

"...We gotta make this land a better land than the world in which we live and we gotta help each man be a better man with the kindness that we give. I know we can make, I know we can... Yes we can can"!

And yet, the hardest battles for peace are fought not in distant lands but at kitchen tables, in traffic jams, in workplace tensions, in the silent resentments we nurse in our hearts. Peace-making isn't just about grand gestures or global movements—it's about choosing gentleness when we're tired, extending grace when we feel wronged, listening when we'd rather speak.

We are all wounded healers, imperfect peace-makers stumbling toward something better.
