Seven Indicators of a Mission-Minded Life (7)
I saved the best for last. All indicators are important but this touches the deep level of "Call" :
7. Search for the Meaning of Life
We could also describe this quality as that of being Faith-filled, we shy away from saying "being holy" though that is in fact the vocation of every disciple of Christ. In the words of St. Comboni, he wanted his missionaries to be "holy and capable". I don't know if anyone would admit to being that but we at least are trying!
There are many distractions around us (and within us) but we are to be vigilant in our attention to our personal vocation of life, the ongoing search for a deeper relationship with God. Supporting the Church's mission, whether through religious life, missionary work, or faithful service in the world offers the possibility to deepen our self-understanding. It also deepens our understanding of other people's reality in the world and these ultimately reflect a deeper understanding of God. For St. Comboni, his spirituality was focused on "Christ, the Good Shepherd with the Pierced Heart".
