Prayer for Peace, Work for Justice

"Peace be within your walls, and security in your towers..." — Psalm 122

Psalm 122 was a song of praise sung by pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem. It is also a prayer for peace. Praying for peace means channeling God's peace as we live in a multicultural, multiracial, multi-religious environment such as Jerusalem, Bangkok, or wherever we find ourselves. Praying for security means asking for a safe and abundant life.

When walls divide lands and peoples, we urgently need to pray and work for genuine peace. Praying for peace—locally and globally—is an act of faith. For our peace to be complete, we must include attention to others, caring also for their well-being. God blesses the peacemakers.

Wisdom to carry with us: True peace begins not only in our hearts but in our hands, in the acts of kindness, understanding, and justice we extend to others.
