Collaboration is not simply a possible option for missionary activity, but an essential part of our being and of our Comboni Missionary methodology. Our culture seems characterized by fragmentation and individualism more and more. In the light of the Gospel and in remaining true to St. Comobni's vision, we strive to cultivate an attitude of openness to and collaboration with all agents which favor the growth of the Kingdom of God and of its values ~ whether they belong to the Church or not.
The Comboni Missionaries when called into a diocese, collaborate with the local Churches and pastoral agents ~ showing them trust and esteem ~ contributing to their advancement, formation and guidance ~ avoiding putting up parallel structures or beginning individualistic initiatives. With other missionary institutes we collaborate in various levels, especially in facing and denouncing injustice, forming apostolic communities, sharing in prayer and material resources... St. Comboni worked tirelessly to include and involve everyone. Comboni Brothers and Fathers work in the single plan of evangelization above all with Comboni Sisters and Comboni Lay-missionaries, through common initiatives at all levels.
We are challenged by our same charism to face and live Mission in a collaborative style, as an apostolic community. There is always room for improvement and a greater commitment when it comes to collaboration ~ as a daily challenge and essential component of our activity ~ it is a fundamental condition for the success of all our initiatives and projects.
The Kingdom of God is not built by many hands working alone, but by one body working together, each member bringing their unique gift to the harvest that belongs to all.
