Literacy Day 2025
Literacy is a right that is still denied one fifth of all adults in the world. This phenomenon requires attention in two aspects: The social and the individual. A fundamental element for the participation and development in economic, social and political life ~ above all in learned societies. It is a key factor to strengthen human capacities that reveal a range of benefits, increasing critical reflection, a healthier family life... reduces poverty and increases active participation in civil life.
So, the problem of literacy is a great problem and I think we can see that it effects especially the poor, women and marginalised groups... larger than conventional measures indicate. Literacy is a right for all ~ let's remember that, not just today, on International Literacy Day, Sept. 8th.
